Technology

Technology has become a major focus at Kiama Public School, where it is driving innovation in the delivery of learning programs across the entire curriculum.

Technology is heavily present across our school, utilising both Apple and Windows platforms. Each learning space is fitted with an interactive whiteboard and all classrooms provide access to numerous laptops and computers and each stage has access to a set of Stage laptops. Our library has a large fleet of computers allowing for both whole class instruction and individual exploration. This includes a large fleet of netbooks and laptops for students to access and borrow from the library to be used in their class lessons.

Since 2015 our 3D printing programs has put our school at the forefront of technology in our learning. 3D Printing has been an integral component of our Enrichment Programs and has extended further to all classes and integrated into our everyday programs.

Ipads have been introduced more and more since their introduction into our school in 2012. This has been further strengthened by the Bring your Own Device program which began in Stage 3 in 2014. We now have many Stage 3 students involved in this program; bringing their own personal devices to school under strict conditions to further engage them in learning and enrich the possibilities of lessons. The possibilities of these initiatives are endless. So far we have seen technology being used to aid in connecting, creating and collaborating. We have seen podcasts, movies, printed stories and much much more being used to enhance learning. Our school has invested in an extensive wireless network, providing connectivity in every indoor space in our school.

Kiama Public School is committed to providing students with opportunities to engage in meaningful, challenging and stimulating learning activities, which is greatly assisted through the daily use of technology.

Here at KPS we have our own Green Screen and movie making equipment. This has enabled students the ability to create informative and entertaining presentations to enhance the topics they are researching and learning about in the classroom.
