Bike riding procedures

The following bike riding policy has been formulated in consultation with the P&C Association.

Both groups have agreed that due to the recommended age fromRoads and Maritime Services and the local terrain around our school, children should be at least 10 years old to ride their bike to school. This is the age recommended by the RMS due to peripheral vision and co-ordination needed to ride a bike and maintain safety in relation to the rider and other road/footpath users.

If your child is interested in obtaining a bike licence please print, read and complete the attached procedure questionnaire and return to school where an interview will be conducted by the Principal for 'Bike license' approval.

This note places all responsibility with the parents of the child cycling to school.

No Helmet  = No bike riding

While in the School grounds, bikes are to be walked from the Collins and Thomson Street (known as the old driveway) gates to and from the bike racks via the top flat, as this is a shared zone with pedestrians. The bike racks are located next to HB9 (sunny days) under cover on the path beside the Hall (wet weather days).

NB. The school accepts no responsibility in relation to the security of students' bikes.
